Frequently Asked Questions

What is the relationship with the American Legion?

Dockside leases the restaurant space from the American Legion Chelberg Battle Post 388. It is open to the general public and is NOT a private club.

What kind of food does Dockside serve?

Our menu is extensive - we call it new American. Asian, Italian, French, Mexican, Indian & traditonal Americana all have left their mark. Naturally being on the East End of Long Island we have an ample selection of fresh fish and seafood. Our steamers & oysters are among the best you’ll find. The quality of our food is important to all of us. We use as many natural and organic ingredients as are possible and available. We seek out providers of meats & poultry that are hormone & antibiotic free and raised humanely. Good quality ingredients, freshness  lots of variety. Customers often comment that they can’t decide what to order because it all looks so good.

Do you have a kids menu?

No, not specifically. We have a big menu with something for everyone that likes food.

Are you open all year?

Yes. We change our schedule to 5 days and nights a week after Labor Day. We do close for maintenance & rest around the 2nd week in January and reopen before February 14th.

Do you take reservations?

We operate as "first come first served."

Will you take a reservation for a large party?

Our seating model is not designed for large groups. We can accommodate parties up to 6 comfortably on our outdoor patio. Inside seating for six is limited.

We are a party of 10 (or more) can we split up?

Our experience has taught us that splitting a party rarely works out to everyone's satisfaction. In short we do not recommend it.
